Welcome to the New Managers Online site
Starting as a new manager or becoming a manager in a new situation can be a challenging experience. How will you get through the first four months in a successful way, learning as you go?
Our aim on these public pages is to answer your questions and give you ideas about the topics you need to consider.
Each page covers:
* the main idea,
* some activities to help you to learn or reflect,
* and why it matters.
The topics we cover are listed on the left. If you'd like to see another topic, please let me know the topic via the contact form.
More is available for members, with the four strands at the top of the page.
Members can also have a direct response to their specific questions.
Subscribe
Subscribe to the New Manager free email newsletter using the form below. Every month you'll get useful tips on becoming a better manager - plus news about new content on the website. (Your email address will also be kept private and will never be shared or sold.)
The members site
You can use the members site in various ways:
* as a "just-in time" resource: a place to find information and advice on your current questions as a new manager. You may find the alphabetical index page useful for this, and the mini-scenarios that deal with specific situations or questions.
* as a structure for planning your own development as a manager. The self-assessment
and development pages with links to specific topics will help you with this.
* as an information and advice site for your first four months as a manager,
using situations that often occur for new managers.
* as a planning and strategic site for you to manage the business of your team,
helping you to look at your goals and targets, and at how you and your team
fit into the overall work of the organisation
