Joanna Howard has worked with managers for twenty-five years, looking particulary at effective relationships at work, and team and organisational development. She has worked with organisations on their appraisals (performance management) system, and specialises in the ways people learn at work.

Her clients include pharmaceutical and engineering companies, housing associations, religious orders, and local authorities. Her home page is at www.joannahoward.net

Joanna works face to face with individuals, teams and organisations. She also does substantial online work as a coach, mentor and forum moderator.

 

Her book Managing More with Less: Handling Multiple Priorities was written while she was course director for the MBA at Sussex University withRoffey Park Management Institute. It is a realistic handbook for managers, based on real-life situations and presented in a down-to-earth manner.

She started her working life as a teacher in London, then moved to the University of Greenwich where she was senior lecturer and realised the importance of effective management in any enterprise. From there she took up the post of Assistant Director at Roffey Park Institute where, as well as working with the MBA, she was Director of Research looking at issues such as Managing in the Inner City, Managing the Flexible Workforce, and Managing Creative Teams.

In 1996 she set up her own independent consultancy, JHA, specialising in team development, coaching and mentoring.

 

Joanna was born in Los Angeles, grew up in London, and spent her early adult years in Nigeria, Fiji, and Southern Sudan. She now lives in West Sussex.
