Welcome to New Managers Online

If you're new to managing and want expertise, support and information, here at your desk, you've come to the right place.

This site has all that you may need as you get into the job; and if you don't find what you want, you can send in a question which I'll answer directly. If you enjoy learning online at your own pace, this site will work well for you, especially if you're not being offered training at work.

The links on the left will take you to the topics that you need to start with. Each page covers the main idea and why it matters, and some activities to help you to learn or to reflect. Explore this first - browse through the pages or look for a topic that concerns you.

If you don't see what you want, send in a question: I'm very interested in answering you, and it's how I keep the site up to date and useful. I've worked with managers for more than twenty years, supporting managers as they learn the new role. You'll see more about me and my experience in the About Joanna Howard section.

I send out a newsletter once or twice a month on a current topic. You can subscribe to this (free) at the foot of the page. It will refresh your ideas and remind you of important skills as a manager.

If you like what you see and want more, become a member. As well as pages similar to those here, you will find cartoons, scenarios, relevant theories and ways of managing your own learning. The members' pages cover things in more depth and offer you a greater variety of ways to learn and refresh your ideas.

As well as this, members can -

* ask for fuller management advice confidentially by email (response within 2 days).

* join the forum to get advice and support from other new managers and from experts.

* suggest new topics to be covered or contribute to the site.

* book 15 minutes free telephone coaching on certain afternoons 4.00 - 8.00 GMT. (dates to be announced in the newsletter)

* have priority access to reasonably priced telephone or email coaching from me.

If you are interested in these benefits, then become a member. Membership for Earlybird Members will be £4.95 per month (or dollar equivalent) from March - September 2009. After September, fees will go up to a level that will cover our costs.

Newsletter for new managers. We send out a regular newsletter with useful tips on becoming a better manager - plus news about new content on the website. (Your email address will also be kept private and will never be shared or sold.) Subscribe to the newsletter here ...
